The debut of Attack on Titan Season 3 is nearly upon us, but American fans that prefer to watch the English dubbed version will have to wait a lot longer.
On Monday, a Facebook post from the official Toonami account confirmed that Adult Swim’s Saturday night block of anime programming would air the English dubbed episodes of Attack on Titan Season 3 starting August 18. The Toonami block usually runs from 10:30 p.m. to 4 a.m. on Saturday nights, and Season 3 will probably claim one of those earlier time slots.
For anime purists, know that the premiere airs live in Japan on the NHK network July 22, but it will be simulcast with English subtitles on Hulu, Crunchyroll, and FunimationNow. Keep in mind that each of these streaming services requires a paid subscription.
What about the exact time? Unsurprisingly, that information remains a bit difficult to parse. The Season 2 simulcasts hit those various streaming platforms around 11 a.m. Eastern, but Season 3’s airing schedule might look a little bit different.
Anime News Network claims that “the series will premiere on July 22 at 24:35 (effectively July 23 at 12:45 a.m.) on NHK (the show will air at 25:15 in the Kansai region).” Fire emblem akatsuki no megami.
Who knows what “24:35” and “25:35” mean when there are only 24 hours in the day, but if it does air at 12:45 a.m. JST on July 23, then that means this simulcast will happen at 11:45 a.m. Eastern on July 22 in the United States.
That’s roughly the same time of day as Season 2, except it’s more than a full 24 hours later. We’ll update this article as soon as we can find clarification.
Fans can look forward to the fact that Season 3 will run 24 episodes as opposed to Season 2’s shortened 12 episodes, which means we’ll be getting new Attack on Titan until well into the autumn.
Attack on Titan Season 3 debuts on July 22.
