I took it home once I saw it side-by-side with my old pc, i noticed that the motherboard is way smaller, had less slots for pci/pci-e and kind of looked dull (cosmetically) compared with the old pc's Gigabyte GA-G41MT-s2. would this smaller motherboard affect performance in any way? or am i just wrong thinking bigger is better??

Looking at older threads posted on forums, the only fix is to update the BIOS. Foxconn adressed the issue and released an updated BIOS in 2012 that would fix this problem. My issue is that 6 years later, i'm having difficulty finding a method to update the BIOS. Mar 24, 2016 PCB 1.1 motherboard can update it to support Ivy Bridge CPU by flashing ME BIOS, PCB 1.0 could not update it by flashing ME BIOS. Click to expand. You can view all bios updates for your board if you go up the notes you will see that text. The computer I'm using has been built around an H55MXV Foxconn board. This board has been updated with the latest BIOS, the 9A1F1P06. I have the same motherboard and the lack of any overclocking options is weird.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed an incorrect or mismatched driver.
Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.
